Campus Life

The students will live in residence halls on the University Park campus, where three daily meals will be provided. They will have both computer and printing privileges as well as access to all the fitness centers and student activities on campus. In the dorms the students will have resident assistants to aid them with any questions or concerns they might have. They will also have access to a help desk during the day.

Summer at Penn State

In addition to their academic activities, the students will enjoy summer fun in Happy Valley, such as:

  • browsing the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts
  • watching movies at the State Theatre
  • swimming at the McCoy Natatorium
  • eating ice cream cones at the Berkey Creamery
  • cheering at Spikes baseball games
  • gallery hopping between the Gallery Shop, the Paul Robeson Cultural Center’s art gallery, and the Palmer Museum of Art
  • attending concerts and lectures
  • making friends at the Comic Swap shop
  • living and eating on Penn State’s bustling University Park campus
  • visiting the planetarium or the Center for Sustainability
  • enjoying a cappuccino or an open-mike night at Webster’s Bookstore
  • attending readings by, and socializing with, published authors
  • participating in group activities, ranging from Ping-Pong tournaments to movie outings to hikes at Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center

All these activities will help the students bond with their fellow writers outside the classroom.
