Data Submission Guidelines
A program, recurring event, service, or other offering designed to further the University’s institutional promise to provide educational opportunities, share research, and deliver public service to all Pennsylvanians who are not currently enrolled as students.
Please note: At this time, we are not including singular or one-off events in the map.
You must provide information about the activity, including but not limited to: name, description, location, approximate number of individuals engaged on an annual basis, affiliated partners, and primary point(s) of contact. Prior to submission, we highly recommend discussing with your Penn State partners that co-own activities to prevent duplicate entries.
Including your activities will broadcast the work of your unit or department across the University and to community stakeholders, donors, and elected officials. Additionally, the map is a tool to communicate the University’s impact and provide a publicly available accounting of Penn State’s outreach and community engagement activities.
Faculty and staff across all campuses, colleges, departments, units, and affiliates who are responsible for managing activities. Please do not submit information for an activity if you do not represent the unit or entity responsible for the activity. Students, graduate assistants, and research assistants should work with their adviser or supervisor to submit activities, when appropriate.
Only the original submitter of the activity is able to edit or update the activity. If changes to an activity are necessary, please reach out to the activity’s point of contact to request the change. If the activity’s point of contact is no longer with the University, please email CommunityImpactMap@psu.edu with your update request.
If an activity occurs in more than one location and you would like the Penn State community and general public to see all of the activity’s locations on the map, you must submit each activity and its corresponding location and information separately.
Please submit activities that have occurred after July 1, 2023, as well as any current and planned activities.
Any activity that is shared or co-owned should be submitted once. Please work with the activity’s co-owners to determine who should be responsible for submitting the activity and updating the information if and when it changes.
